Welcome to Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour today!
Calvary Women – This Tuesday at 9:30am, Calvary Women will meet here at the Chapel as the ladies continue their in-depth study of Psalm 23. We encourage all the ladies to come along and enjoy this wonderful time together in God’s Word.
Calvary Kids & Calvary Youth – This Friday, Calvary Kids and Calvary Youth are both on! We look forward to seeing our young people and continuing to encourage them to grow in their knowledge and love of the Lord.
Israel Tour 2027 – The situation in Israel continues to be somewhat “sketchy” as far as tours are concerned. We continue to pray that things will settle and that the way will be clear for us to travel in January 2027. Please keep this trip and the situation in Israel in your prayers.
Wednesday Night Prayer & Communion: – we will spend some time in prayer for the upcoming election and our government – the invitation goes out to any in the congregation on the night who would like to be prayed for specifically by the pastors/elders, anointed with oil for healing etc. – there will also be a communion table prepared.
Father’s Day — Sunday 6 September – Father’s Day is coming! On Sunday, 6 September, we give thanks for those who carry the godly responsibility of leading their families in the ways of the Lord. Deuteronomy 6:5–7 reminds us: “And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children.” What an important responsibility fathers have—not simply to provide for their families, but to lead them spiritually and point them towards the Lord.

Spring Clean & BBQ — Coming Soon!
We are planning a big Church Spring Clean and BBQ before summer arrives. This will be a great opportunity to tackle those jobs that somehow never seem to get done—but need a solid hit of time and effort!
Keep your ears pricked for the date. When it is announced, we want all hands on deck! It will be a great time of fellowship, serving together and getting our Chapel ready for the warmer months.

From the Pastor’s Pen
When Sin Is the Real Issue Genesis 6:5“The LORD observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil.” Drug abuse, immorality and so much other depravity have filled our news this week. Journalists, like piranhas sensing blood in the water, swarm around every press release. Rules and protocols have been breached, and the blame needle spins endlessly as everyone looks for someone or something to blame.Having been involved in the AFL process, I am fully aware of the many programs, training sessions and instructions that people must work through at the beginning of each new season. Yet here we are—a mess of gigantic proportions. But perhaps we need to look deeper. The real issue is sin. Sin cannot ultimately be legislated, regulated, trained out or controlled through human intervention. We can establish rules, provide therapy, introduce rehabilitation programs and create protocols to restrain behaviour—and these things may have their place—but none of them can change the human heart. The Bible tells us that what we desperately need is repentance, confession of sin, acknowledgement that we are sinners separated from God, and the transforming power of God that gives us a new heart. We need to be born again. We have seen the depths of human depravity throughout history. The Holocaust, more than eighty years ago, revealed the horrifying capacity of humanity for evil. The barbaric events of October 7, 2023, reminded the world once again that evil is not merely a concept from history books. Sin and evil are very real. And yet humanity continues to redefine morality. A world that has redefined man, woman and marriage, and permits the death of unborn children, simultaneously declares that it can solve society’s deepest problems through human wisdom and intervention. Isaiah warned us: Isaiah 5:20 “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
How desperately we need to hear those words today. The answer is not found merely in better policies, stronger protocols or more sophisticated programs. The answer is Jesus Christ. The Church has been given a mission—not to hide from the depravity around us, nor simply to condemn it, but to proclaim the Gospel. Jesus Christ came to deal with the deepest problem of humanity: sin.
Through repentance and faith in Christ, we can receive forgiveness, a new heart and a new life. What human intervention cannot accomplish, God can accomplish through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
The world desperately needs to hear the Good News that Jesus Christ has defeated sin and offers forgiveness and new life to all who will come to Him. So, in the midst of all the noise, accusations and blame, it is time for the Church to pray. And above all, pray that God will awaken hearts to the reality of sin and the saving grace found only in Jesus Christ.
Helen’s heart – calvary women
Today there is much emphasis on leisure time. With FIFO shifts and RDO’s and endorsement of the 4 day week there is plenty of time to do what we want. We have heard a person can be judged by how they use their leisure time. But some times we need a time to do nothing, but rest. Our Lord set a pattern for us when He bade the disciples to “Come apart a while with Him and rest.” They had been busy meeting all kinds of human needs and they needed rest from these pressures and regenerating. As busy women, working in the home and many outside in the workforce as well, even more the need to ‘get away’ is imperative. This discretionary time must be arranged for us to take that break without guilt. The Lord is not against leisure – He speaks of pleasures evermore in the future _Psalm 16:11. Take time to rest even if it is 10 minutes each day. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts….and be thankful. Col 3:15
