Daily devotion – Spring is here and it has a message for all of us!
🌱 Spring’s Message of Hope
Spring is in the air—even though today feels more like a winter’s day! Yet spring reminds us of new growth and new beginnings. After months of cold, bare and dormant trees, we begin to see buds appearing, flowers blossoming and new life emerging.
And the birds certainly seem to know it! Their songs fill the air as though they are announcing the excitement of the season ahead—the promise of warmth, growth and an abundance of food.
We all need a boost after enduring dark and difficult times. Life can take us along paths that are painful, exhausting and, at times, seemingly never-ending. Perhaps some of you reading this are still walking such a journey.
But there is a wonderful truth we can hold onto: dark seasons do not last forever.
God walks with us along every difficult path. He has never abandoned us, and He never will. Some of us may have even walked through what felt like “the valley of the shadow of death,” yet our Lord has been there with us every step of the way.
And just as winter gives way to spring, our present struggles will one day give way to the glory that awaits us.
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”
— 1 John 3:2
What a glorious hope! Our journey does not end in sorrow, pain or hardship. Jesus is both the Author and Finisher of our faith.
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross…”
— Hebrews 12:2
Jesus endured the cross because He could see beyond it. There was joy set before Him. And we, too, can look beyond our present circumstances to the glorious hope that lies ahead.
I love the words of Psalm 23. Every time I read them, I am encouraged and strengthened by the power of their promise:
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”
— Psalm 23:6
What a promise! Goodness and mercy follow us all the days of our lives, and at the end of our journey we will dwell with our Lord forever.
So, when you hear the birds singing this spring, let their song remind you of something far greater than the changing of a season.
Let it remind you that God is not finished with you yet.
The winter may have been long. The journey may have been painful. The night may have seemed dark. But spring reminds us that new life is coming—and for every child of God, a glorious finish awaits.
One day we will see our Saviour face to face.
Spring is a precious reminder of our blessed hope: Jesus is coming, our journey will be complete, and we will dwell with Him forever! 🌱🕊️
