🎉 Calvary Youth – Special Quiz Evening! If you missed last Friday night’s Youth Night, make sure you don’t miss the next one! Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour Youth will be holding a special Quiz Evening on Friday, 26th September, with prizes and plenty of fun. Invite your friends and come along to be part of what God is doing amongst the young people of Calvary. A great time of fun, fellowship and growing in God’s Word as we discover, even though young in years, that God has called each of us into His Kingdom for a very special purpose. Put 26th September in your phone and be sure to be there!
🌸 Calvary Ladies – Tuesday, 22nd September Ladies, your next Tuesday gathering will be held on 22nd September here at the Chapel. Women of all ages and backgrounds gather together for a wonderful time in God’s Word, prayer and encouragement. You are warmly invited to come and be part of God’s gracious work amongst the women of Calvary.
🎁 Operation Christmas Child – Starts Today! Operation Christmas Child kicks off this Sunday! You know what to do—grab a shoebox and prepare to make a difference in the life of a young boy or girl this Christmas with a gift of love. A special video will be shown this morning, reminding us what a wonderful blessing this ministry is and how each of us can be a part of it.
📖 Parents – Let’s bring our Bibles! Most, if not all, of the children and young people attending CCSH have their own personal Bible. Let’s encourage them to bring their Bibles along to Junior Church, Calvary Kids and Calvary Youth. God’s Word is the weapon of every believer as we live for Christ and the means by which God helps us to grow strong in Him!
🙏 Wednesday Evening – Ephesians & Prayer
Starting this Wednesday, Pastor Keith will also be teaching through the Book of Ephesians in depth, before we gather together to pray for the needs of the Church and call upon the power of God to direct and bring His blessing here at CCSH.
Even though it is a weeknight, we encourage parents to consider rostering their family commitments so they can gather with the Church to learn God’s Word and pray together on Wednesday evenings. As we build into our families a pattern of faithful dedication to the fellowship God has placed us in, we can have a lasting impact not only on our own children, but also on all those who call CCSH their home fellowship.

From the Pastor’s desk – Pastor Chuck Smith
September 11, 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the tragic terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Soon after those terrible events, Pastor Chuck Smith wrote an article addressing the tragedy. It was published in Calvary Chapel Magazine, Issue 9, Fall 2001. Twenty-five years later, it is good for us to reflect again upon his words and, more importantly, upon the Scriptures that directed his thoughts. – “September 11, 2001, was a day of infamy, a day in history that no one will ever forget, and a day that altered both the sense of superiority and invulnerability that our country had maintained for the past several decades.” The attacks of that day reminded the world how quickly life can change. Thousands of people left home that morning expecting to return to their families that evening. Yet, in a moment of time, everything changed. The tragedy also caused many to ask an important question: Where is God when tragedy strikes? Pastor Chuck turned to the words of Solomon and to God’s response following the dedication of the Temple. Solomon understood that when a nation turned away from God, there could be terrible consequences. Yet he also knew that there was always a way back. God said: “If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” — 2 Chronicles 7:14
These words were originally spoken by God to Israel, but they contain a timeless principle for God’s people everywhere. When we see our world drifting further from God, the answer is not despair, anger, or fear. The answer begins with God’s people humbling themselves, praying, seeking His face, and turning from sin. Pastor Chuck encouraged believers to see the events of September 11 as a wake-up call and a reminder of how desperately we need God. Twenty-five years later, that message remains relevant. Our world still knows terrorism, war, violence, moral confusion, and uncertainty. Nations continue to turn away from God, while many people seek security in governments, wealth, technology, and human strength. Yet none of these things can give lasting peace. True security is found in the Lord. The events of September 11 also remind us of the uncertainty and brevity of life. None of us knows what tomorrow will bring. This is why the Gospel is so urgent and why we must not delay in responding to God’s call. Daniel, while living in captivity, prayed a prayer of humble confession in Daniel chapter 9. He did not blame God. Instead, he acknowledged the righteousness of God and confessed the sin of the people. That too is a good place for us to begin. Rather than asking why God does not do more, perhaps we should ask whether we are truly seeking Him. Rather than blaming God for the darkness in our world, we should allow the light of Christ to first shine in our own hearts and lives. September 11 was a day that brought terrible grief and loss to thousands of families. We continue to remember those who died, their families who mourned, and the courageous first responders who willingly put themselves in danger to help others. But we should also remember the spiritual lesson. Life is precious. Life is uncertain. Eternity is real. And we need God. Pastor Chuck concluded with a call to prayer, and that is still the right response today. Let us pray for those who continue to suffer from loss. Let us pray for our leaders to have wisdom and discernment. Let us pray for Israel and for peace in Jerusalem. And let us pray that hearts throughout our nation and around the world would turn to Jesus Christ. May we never forget the tragedy of September 11, 2001. But more importantly, may we never forget that in every tragedy, every uncertainty, and every fearful moment, God remains sovereign, God remains righteous, and God remains our only true hope. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1 May this anniversary stir us once again to humble ourselves, seek the Lord, pray for our nation, share the Gospel, and live each day ready to meet our Lord. We need God more than ever.

We do go through periods of hard times and can feel defeated in the midst of these storms. It is at our lowest that we need to seek the One who calms the wind and the waves. He will deliver you.
