The Net Still Being Cast
Matthew 13:47–52
The dragnet parable bookends the wheat and tares parable, providing another picture of final separation, this time using fish gathered “of every kind” (v. 47). The net excludes no one; the gospel goes out to every tribe, tongue, people, and nation. But not everyone gathered is ultimately kept. Good and bad are caught together, and the sorting, again, isn’t ours to do. It belongs to the angels, at the end of the age, based entirely on whether Christ’s righteousness has been credited to a person through faith.
Our job is simply to cast the net.
Maybe someone came to mind as you read that parable in Matthew — a spouse, a child, a friend who doesn’t yet know Christ, someone you’ve prayed for a long time. Don’t stop. The harvest hasn’t come yet. The net is still being cast. There is still time, though not unlimited time.
Pray for them. Speak the gospel to them. Love them, serve them, tell them what Jesus has done for you. Then trust God with the harvest that only He can bring in.
