Daily devotion – The plan is drawing to its completion.
2 Peter 3: 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Our world as we know it has a timeline. God is bringing to pass His plan, and we see our world proceeding to its ultimate destination, its end.
Politicians continue to attempt to bring peace in the Middle East but the principalities and powers – ranks of Satan’s fallen angels- increasingly seek to poison and drive even more the vile hatred of the nation Israel by those who seek God’s chosen people to be annihilated. Peace is not their agenda!
The world powers, Russia, China, the United States, the European nations, all are locked into a deadly ‘game’ of beating chests to see who is the most powerful. Rockets and missiles continue in the gulf, and oil prices continue to climb. But there is an end coming to all this!
Our world is yet to enter the period called the 7-year tribulation spoken of by Jesus, but it is coming. For the Church of Jesus Christ, the time we have been given to impact our world, to preach the Gospel, to be salt and light, is drawing also to its end. For during the tribulation period, the children of Israel, will once again be the instruments and messengers of God to a lost world. (Revelation 7).
There has never been a greater need for the Church now, to pray, to worship, to preach and to live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ, yet sadly here in our nation Australia we find much of the Church absent, asleep or dispassionate.
2 Thess 2:3 NKJV
Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,
Paul speaks of a rebellion or a departure from God’s ways. Bible scholars’ debate whether this refers to an apostasy among those who once followed Jesus or to a general worldwide rebellion.
I think its speaking of both! Because the evidence is clear that both are happening as we speak.
Each Sunday we either grow closer to the Lord in our walk with Him or we take another step back into the world and our old sinful selfish ways. We must ask ourselves, our we growing stronger and closer to our Lord or is the ‘religious’ experience we dabbled in losing its lustre?
The plan of God is unfolding, and Scripture tells us the outcome!
Let us be about our calling, let us be about His business, for the end is coming to the world as we know it.
