God’s Creation Speaks

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.”
— Psalm 19:1–3

As the seasons begin to change and the flora and fauna around us adapt so beautifully, I am once again staggered by the enormous complexity, order and power of the world our Lord created in just six days, with the seventh day being set apart as a day of rest.

Around us, roses are blooming, birds are becoming increasingly busy, and the morning sun rises earlier as the days grow longer. Creation itself seems to awaken before our eyes.

The wonder of God’s creation speaks to us of the majesty of God and His infinite glory.

Psalm 19 reminds us that creation is continually speaking. It has no human voice, yet its message reaches every nation, every language and every generation. The heavens declare that there is a Creator—and that Creator is glorious.

And then I am forced to stop, even if only for a brief moment, and consider something even more astonishing.

The God who created all of this—in His majesty, wisdom and infinite power—chose to send His Son, Jesus Christ, to rescue you and me from our sin, our ignorance and our selfish, lost living.

He could have simply passed us by.

Yet He did not.

Before one rose ever bloomed, before one bird ever sang, before one majestic creature ever walked this earth, God had already purposed His plan of redemption. The Creator of the universe planned the rescue of sinners.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son…”
— John 3:16

Creation speaks of His glory, but the cross speaks of His love.

So when I look at the changing seasons, the flowers beginning to bloom, the birds filling the morning air with their songs, and the sun rising over another beautiful day, I hear creation preaching again.

God is glorious. God is Creator. God is good. And God has provided salvation through Jesus Christ.

And once again, I must bow my knee and give thanks to my Heavenly Father.

Yes, the seasons are changing. But with every new bloom, every birdsong and every sunrise, the joy of salvation washes over my soul again.

And it is good!
