Christmas thoughts…

It’s mid November but already the season of Christmas is starting to wash over us. For children its excitement about everything. School days are changing, exams are just about all done and dusted. Teenagers begin to think about Summer days, the beach and surf and fun. Adults, start to ready themselves for vacation time, planning trips and work breaks.
Some 2,000 years ago at this time, heaven was in preparation mode for the most significant event for all time. Jesus Christ, God’s Son was going to lay aside His glory and put on the skin, the body of a man, a child in fact and physically and literally step into the very world and air in which you and I now live and draw breath.
For any great event there is planning, there is preparation and there is cost.
As you and I draw nearer to Christmas, let us be about the Lord’s business. Each night and in the morning be praying for family members, loved ones, friends, classmates, people you just meet going about you day, be praying for them for you to invite to come to Christmas services with you. Make a list of their names, write them a card, prepare for how you can bring them, and see God do the miraculous. Christmas is for everyone, how can we say this? Because God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should NOT perish but have everlasting life….John 3:16.
How wonderful Christmas is for a Christian, for a believer. Why? Because we know God came for us, and He came personally!
May be you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, maybe Christmas to you is just a whole lot of business about nothing, at least so it seems. But Christmas is as real as your heartbeats life each day all by itself without you thinking about it.
If you don’t know the joy of Christmas, if you have never experienced the reality of knowing that God gave His Son as a gift for you, then I would like to invite you to join with us at the Calvary family as we celebrate Christmas and the most wonderful gift we have ever received. Jesus did come. why even our world’s timeline, our history is based around His birth and His death.
Maybe you are going through a storm in your life, suffered a tragedy, have been painfully hurt. Christmas is especially for you then, because Jesus was born into a world that was violent, stormy and dark and He came to bring joy, hope and forgiveness.
Christmas is for you because Jesus came for you. Ask Him into your life, ask Him to heal you of your hurts, your sorrows and give Him all the things you have done wrong, all the things that you wish you have never done or said and Christmas will come into your life like never before. We pray for you as you read this that this Christmas will be one that you never thought you could have – it will be like new because you will be like new! Your invited, we pray you will accept our invitation.
