Being led by the Holy Spirit….in the mission field.

How much do you enjoy your Christianity?
It’s a simple question that if many people answered truthfully they would say, “not much at all!”
The reason being is their understanding of being a Christian is based upon a stoic, no good times, must be serious at all times type of walk with God that is not scripturally based but is more akin to a religious asceticism. In other words, the more miserable I am the more spiritual I am.
In the role of filling the great commission this is often why such ‘christian’ living appeals to no-one!
We often place a large amount of pressure on ourselves which becomes a form of guilt, thinking that every time I fly on an airplane I must share the gospel, no matter what even if they don’t want to listen, with the person seated next to us. Or I am a failure!
Pastor Chuck Smith said to a group of pastors at one time, “Find out what God is doing in your area and join in with what He’s doing!” We are to learn to listen to God’s Holy Spirit so we can respond to the needs and people around us.
We are to trust that God by His Holy Spirit is already working in people’s lives around us, and we need to pay attention to see how and then cooperate with what God is doing.
We are to be led by the Holy Spirit.
Our Christian life becomes one of joy because it is the Lord who is guiding us, leading us, prompting us and opening doors for us.
It is this type of living that attracts people to Jesus Christ – a life filled with joy because God is leading it.
Rom 8:14    For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Sharing Christ is no longer a duty instead it happens as God presents us with a blessed opportunity and you actually enjoy doing it…because God is in control.
