Mother’s of Courage
At a time when Israel was at its weakest – they had no chariots and instead of iron spears they had bronze daggers and swords; Deborah arose with great faith to declare to the Israel “general” of the time, Barak, the Lord God of Israel commands you to “Go take with you 10,000 men of Naphtali and Zebulun and lead the way to Mt Tabor. I will lure Sisera the commander of Jabin’s army with his chariots and his troops to the Kishon river and hive him in to your hands – Judges 4:6-7. Although Deborah was confident Barak needed her along to infuse this courage. The Lord indeed gave them victory and both Barak and Deborah broke into song. She took no credit for the victory and humbly declared ” I arose, a mother of Israel” – Judges 5:7. As mothers we need to arise and fight for our families. Be courageous and infuse this confidence that God will act on the behalf of His people.
