Give thanks…
We used to sing a song in church which started with the words, Give thanks with a greatful heart, give thanks to the Holy One..
We hear so little in today’s world of anyone actually saying, “Thank you!”
The Psalmist wrote, Psa 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, [and] into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, [and] bless his name. As believers we always, always have a reason to give thanks because of what Jesus Christ has done for us, is doing for us and what He will do for us.
We celebrate 2011 as a year of giving thanks this Sunday morning with a special Thanksgiving Service where people can have the opportunity to publicly proclaim why they are thankful to God for the things He has done.
We are quick to come to God in times of need, but when He answers our prayers, we frequently fail to offer up a word of thanks. Or worse yet, we chalk it up to providence. Hebrews 13:15 tells us, “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name” (NKJV).
We can give thanks even when times are hard. God can take all things, bad or good, and “work them together for good to those that love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28 NKJV).
To give thanks, we must realize that, as Christians, God is in control of all circumstances surrounding our lives.
Again this week, lets walk in the Light of God’s word and let us all give thanks, no matter what we are going through, or experiencing. God is so good and we have so much to thank Him for.
By doing this we take away the focus from ourselves and place it rightly upon our Lord which is fulfilling the first commandment.
Tomorrow, when someone serves you, assists you in any way, seize that opportunity as well and thank them – it will surprise them!
To God be the glory!
