Just a little bit of peace….please..

The idea of peace dominates the Bible.  The Bible opens with peace in the garden.  The Bible closes with peace in eternity.  In fact, you could chart the course of history based on the theme of peace.  There was peace on earth in the garden.  Man sinned, peace was interrupted.  At the cross, peace became a reality again as He who died on the cross became our Peace.  And since the Lord Jesus Christ has provided peace, there can be peace in the heart of a man or a woman who comes to know him.

I’ll never forget reading a statistic.  The question was, how many peace treaties have been broken?  The answer, all of them.  You see, peace is that glorious brief moment in history when everybody stops to reload.  The United Nations was concerned in the aftermath of World War II with developing an agency for world peace.  And so in 1945, the United Nations brought itself into existence and since that time there has not been one single day of peace on the earth, not one.

H G Wells said, “ The time has come for me to reorganize my life, my pace – I cry out.  I cannot adjust my life to secure any fruitful peace.  Here I am 64, still seeking peace.  It is a hopeless dream.”
Some say that peace is the brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.
In the last 4,000 years on earth, there has been less than 300 years of peace.
Have you ever cried out, I just want some peace!”?
Why is it that our world reels from war to war, that news is filled with the constant news of tribe against tribe?
The answer, the simple fact is: there can be no real peace in the world until we have peace with God.
We even see peace rallies turn violent!
What is peace?

It is not a mere cessation of hostilities.
It is in fact a positive action.
It is a specific relationship with God into which a person is brought.
It is a spiritual reality in a human heart, which has come into a vital contact with the Infinite God!

Ephesians 2:13-14
Eph 2:13  But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Eph 2:14  For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

There is a famous painting in England portraying a soldier who had been sent to the front to repair communication lines.
The message which was to flow through those lines meant life to hundreds even thousands of men.
He found a breach in the line, the actual wire of communication.
But he had nothing to repair the break with him. Those who had packed the supplies packed everything but that which he needed to repair the line.
Enemy shelling started pounding his location and knowing the importance of the communication he took one broken cable in his left hand and stretching his right hand grasped the other cable and made the connection.
The dramatic picture had a one-word title: “Through”

Jesus in His vicarious death on the cross, repaired the branch between God and man.
The Bible says, “He is our peace…”
“Those who were far off are made near…”
You can have peace, a peace that the world cannot give you. If you will right now just confess your sins to Jesus Christ, ask Him to forgive you of your sins, and now be Lord of your life – God promises to give you His peace. His peace is Himself. No longer on your own, He has taken away all your guilt and your shame. He comes to give you peace, personal peace!
Psa 29:11         The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace
