Someone’s waiting for you….!

Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour   -

God is a Father who loves your company……even after we have gone off and done our own thing!
Jesus tells us in this story of the not only approachable Father when the prodigal son returns home but in fact the Father is absolutely overwhelmed with joy at the return of His lost son.
Notice His reaction in Luke 15:20

Luk 15:20
And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

Note the reaction while the son was….still a great way off, His Fathers saw him and had compassion…
J B Phillips translation….his father saw him and his heart went out to him….!!
Does that look like a father bent on making his son pay for the disgrace he has given the family name?  Of course not!
What we do see is a hurting caring father – a father who misses his son so much he actually strains to see him in the distance.
What does this mean to you and me today?
Jesus was using this story to help explain what God the Father is like, so we get a view of God’s heart and how He feels when we have run away from Him?
How does God react when we have broken His commandments?
We often envision Him as some angry deity ready to pull the lever on us.
Yet as we follow the picture that Jesus is trying to portray to us, we have a picture of a father who misses us, a Father who really wanted His son to come home.
Today, tonight as you read this post, your Heavenly Father is still waiting for you to come home and you are on His mind continually and He misses your company….He misses you!  Today, tonight, righ t now return home and you will be overwhelmed by the love of your Heavenly Father for you. Jesus knew what He was talking about – both about our failures but most importantly how God our Father is straining to have us appear on the road home – Jesus says He will run to you! Come home today – someone’s waiting for you!
