What’s Happening –Welcome to Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour today. Calvary Youth kicks off Friday 7th August here at 6:30 pm .Due to some cancellations, we again need some helpers for Sunday school classes am and Teachers for the pm service– to serve in either of these glorious ministry opportunities, please see Helen Carmody directly after this morning’s service. Calvary Women’s study is on this Tuesday here at the chapel – don’t miss this blessed gathering with the women of CCSH. This Wednesday being the last Wed of July we are having a special men’s study and time of prayer. Ladies, your time together will be the last Wednesday of August – the 26th. A little change to our normal routine to enable those with children to not miss these important studies together.
From the Pastor’s Desk – There are many times, as I am reading the Bible text at a Sunday service or midweek meeting, that I am often prompted to simply read the text and pray for those listening then to hear and obey God’s precious Word. The Book of Revelation says to do that very thing and the readers and hearers will receive a blessing from God! In the days in which we find ourselves, let us never forget the power of God’s Word alone! In my early days as a new Christian, I used to pray for God’s Word to be anointed and to penetrate people’s hearts. That actually is not a biblically correct statement either. God’s Word is always anointed – 2 Tim 3:16 and Isaiah 55:10-11 to name just a few verses. In addition, God’s Word always penetrates people’s hearts. Actually, it goes even deeper than that – Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The issue is not with God nor His Word. It lays purely with the hearer and the one who obeys God’s Word. I believe God is truly refining His church and all that is false is being shed leaving only those who have completely and totally surrendered their own desires and flesh to the higher purpose of serving God’s glory. This is an amazing time to be able to serve Jesus Christ and to die to our own selves and put on His garment of service. Jesus is coming soon!
