From the Pastors Desk

Do you ever feel as if you have let God down? Thankfully and wonderfully the Bible tells us that God loves you no matter what you have done. The last thing God desires you to do is to spend your life under the weight of guilt, shame and remorse. May this truth give you hope, because it means that God wants to help you. He desires to put back together the pieces of your life and make you whole.  So, if you feel as if you have failed God, ask for His forgiveness – and ask Him to also help you forgive yourself for what you have done. Then commit your future days to Him. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve my life – Psalm 138:7

How to start Bible reading that works!

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” (Psalm 119:105). Let me suggest three things to help you get started with your reading of the Bible. First, use a modern translation you can understand; if you don’t already have one, your pastor or local Christian bookseller can give you suggestions. Be sure also it has type that’s easy to read. Big enough print to read anywhere!

Second, start with one of the Gospels in the New Testament (I often suggest John). The reason is because the whole Bible points to Jesus Christ—and the Gospels tell us about Him. Later you’ll want to turn to the Old Testament (perhaps Psalms or Proverbs at first), but start with the Bible’s center: Jesus Christ.

Finally, ask God to guide you as you read. Ask Him to help you understand what the passage is all about, and ask Him also to help you apply it to your life. Even if you only read a paragraph or two at a time, God can use it to tell you of His love, and teach you how to live. Let the Psalmist’s prayer become yours: “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law” (Psalm 119:18).

Rom 1:11 For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established

What gift, ministry of serving, has God given to you that you may bless the church here at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour? There are many ministry opportunities here at CCSH. Seek the Lord and serve in the gifting that God has given you this 2021. See any of the Elders, Reece De Jonge or Richard Austin or our Deacon, Thomas Woodage, for further information as to how we can bring this to pass.

Helen’s Heart –

A cheerful look brings joy to the heart – Prov 15:30 NIV. Facing Covid day in day out – is becoming tiresome, annoying and somewhat depressing. It is the uncertainty of no ‘end-date’ and the continual guessing of whether the ‘lockdown’ is looming.  Hence we need to set our hope in Him. God communicates happiness and joy to those in union with Him. “It takes so little to make us glad, just a cheering clasp of a friendly hand. Just a word from one who can understand. And we finish the task we long had planned. And we lose the doubt and fear we had. So, little it takes to make us glad.” -author unknown. In spite of the circumstances, we are in ‘press on’ in Him – ‘in Thy presence is fulness of joy’ Psalm 16:11

Prayer – Join us as we pray each Sunday morning at 9:30 am for the Lord’s blessing and protection over all our services and His ministries here at CCSH. In particular commit your time to pray here Wednesday’s at 7:00PM. (No prayer no power) We continue to receive prayers requests to our web page form people asking us to pray for their situation – what a blessed ministry opportunity this is! Prayer commences this Wednesday, 20thJanuary here at the chapel. See you there!

Tithes and Offerings We don’t take an offering here at CCSH, but we do give a grace offering to our Lord of our first fruits. The offering box is at the back of the hall near the prayer box. 2 Cor 9:7..Every man according as he purposes in his heart, so let him give not grudgingly, or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
