Covid lock down day one!

Pastor Keith   -

Day one of the Covid lock down and people are uneasy about what lies ahead. Will this lockdown be extended? What can I do and what can’t I do? Shops with massive lines with people panic buying!

The Bible tells us beautifully what we can and should not do at times just like these we are all experiencing. Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The Bible says at times like these we should still rejoice in the Lord. King David would meditate on the goodness of God on his bed which would lead him to having a peaceful sleep. Psalm 4:8 I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. No matter David’s day, his rejoicing in his Lord brought comfort and calm to his soul!

Secondly, the Bible exhorts us a followers of Christ to bring comfort to those around us who are struggling at this time. We can do it with a prayer, with a phone call or sending a verse of blessing via SMS. Telling them that God has everything in control no matter how things appear.

Then the Bible speaks to our own selves reminding us not to be anxious or worried, but instead to bring or as Peter says, to cast our cares before Him.

This is such a blessing at these times to open your Bible and read God’s Word and then to acknowledge that God is with you and He knows your situation and He will indeed watch over you and care for you.

Finally, the Bible says after doing this, God’s peace will rest over our souls and bring a peace to our troubled thoughts. It is at times like these that God expects and desires us to go to Him, to seek Him and to trust Him and not to be worried or concerned about the events going on around us!

His peace, His comfort…is given to you as soon as you seek Him!

Take this time of lockdown to be with your Lord and grow to know Him and trust Him even more!
