Mat 7:24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:

When Jesus spoke these words, their impact has been such a blessing in my life, and I am sure many others.

Two men begin to build their houses. Both men used the same material. Both made in the exact geographical location.

But one man’s house stood while the other man’s house collapsed around him. The difference was in the foundations. One built on rock, the other on sand.

Jesus is reminding us all that an actual test does not occur until the storms come. Jesus taught us to be careful where we build our house. We need to build it on something tried and true. Don’t take shortcuts we will regret later.

Who is the one who builds his house upon the Rock? The one who hears the Words of the Lord and does them.

Who is the one who builds his house upon the sand?
The one who hears His words but does not do them.

One of the great dangers for those who love the Word of God is to think that hearing is equivalent to doing. That is, simply hearing the truth and agreeing with it means we are automatically practising the truth.

But we become like the foolish man when we only listen and do not put into practice what we have heard.

The wise man not only hears Jesus words but also puts them into practice. It is his house that will stand no matter the strength of the storms it will face.
