“And after six days Jesus took Peter, James and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain apart – Matthew 17:1

The Bible records three times that Jesus took aside Peter, James and John apart from the other disciples to minister to them in very distinct and unique ways. Interestingly, each of the occasions dealt with death.

When Jesus went to the house of Jairus to raise his dead young daughter.
Jesus took them to the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed concerning the cup He was to drink that made Him sweat droplets of blood.
Here in Matthew 17, Jesus takes the three to a mountain where they will see Jesus glorified in death.
Peter, James and John needed these three special instruction times concerning death because they would have unique encounters with death.

Peter was going to be crucified upside down.
James would be sawn in half by his persecutors.
John would be the last to die after he had been banished to the island of Patmos, where he would pen the Book of Revelation.

Jesus prepared each of these three disciples for what they would face. And He will do the same, I believe for you. He will equip you through Bible studies, radio programs, podcasts, friends and books for what lies ahead for you.

Have you not found how you will have studied something only to discover a week later that situation arises in which you will need that exact information.

This week remain sensitive to God’s voice and then see the Lord’s faithfulness in lovingly preparing you for what lies ahead.
