Pastor Keith   -

Dr. Donald Barnhouse said whenever a believer’s Bible accidentally falls on the floor, it should automatically open to Romans 8.

Chapter 8 of Romans is the story of victory, triumph, assurance and security!

The Book of Romans began with an account of universal condemnation.

This was followed by divine redemption, then faith’s justification, the believer’s sanctification, and finally a believer’s tragic defeat as he steps out of character and tries to live a regenerated life without the Regenerator!

With this cry…., “O wretched man that I am….who shall deliver me…”

God responds and the new secret and the law of life chapter 8 unfolds…with the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus….

The man in chapter 7 was a saved man, but he was living out of character, he was a slave….sold under sin…but in chapter 8, he is the victor over sin!

In chapter 7 we see a man in sin, but in chapter 8 we see a man “in Christ”.

In chapter 7 he is a ‘wretched man’ seeking deliverance, but in chapter 8 he is a ‘victorious man’ happy in his security.

Chapter 8 begins with “no condemnation” and ends with “no separation”, whilst in between is “no defeat”.

The theme of chapter 8 is the Holy Spirit – until this point, there have only been two mentions of the Spirit in Romans.
Now in chapter 8, Paul mentions the Holy Spirit 20 times!

If you are in Jesus Christ, you are safe!

Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation “…..the remainder of that verse does not belong in the original…and in addition the little word is…is also NOT in the original Greek text.

So, it should read…., “Therefore now no condemnation”. This is our new position!

Literally, it means that there is no condemnation now, nor will there ever be condemnation for those who are in Jesus – it is a statement of the believer’s perfect and eternal security in Christ.

Today, live your life according to what the Bible says about it!
