Special Covid Daily Devotion – Saturday 24th April 2021

Pastor Keith   -

Gal 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

The sudden three-day lock down due a localised outbreak of Covid has changed our plans for much of what we had prepared for the ANZAC long weekend.

Church doors are closed again for public worship!

But in the scope of things what the Church has had to cope over its history since its supernatural birth in the book of Acts, Covid is but a minnow!

Under Roman rule, every believer in the early Church faced a death sentence if they did not adhere to the annual offering of incense by law to Caesar which also required the recitation of the phrase, “Caesar is Lord!” Who could forget the amazing story of the martyr Polycarp the Bishop of Smyrna?

Polycarp was burnt at the stake for refusing to announce that Caesar was lord at the age of 86 years in the year 155 A.D.

Given that we cannot publicly gather, let that not stop us from taking the time now available due to the Covid restrictions, to pray for those who are lost.

Let us seek God’s Word for both wisdom and comfort. Let us bring our nation, our community before God as we sense the reality even more that we are indeed living in the Last Days before the Church is raptured.

There is much work that can be done without leaving your home. Look at the life of Paul who was jailed for approximately 5 years in his period of ministry. Yet in that time much of what we read as the New Testament was the fruit of his imprisonment including Philippians, Ephesians, Colossians and Philemon.

There is always a purpose in the things that effect our lives as we live for God. May I encourage you these coming three days of lockdown to be like Paul and work for God and not grow weary in praying, reading, worship, interceding and growing closer to God.

Ecc 3:1 “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”

Also, you can SMS or phone relatives and friends to invite them to watch our live-streaming service this weekend as we teach from the Book of Romans Sunday morning and the Book of Jonah Sunday night.

Don’t miss Church, join us at 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, from your homes, for the preaching of the Word of God and use this weekend as a gift that God has given to you to achieve great things in His kingdom and in your own walk with Him!

The Roman proconsul in charge of Polycarp’ arrest was so touched by the witness of Polycarp and his demeanour even though under arrest and facing death, that he implored Polycarp greatly saying…, “Swear to Caesar and I will release thee…”

Polycarp’s last words should encourage us all to never grow weary in serving Jesus Christ…, “Eighty and six years have I served Christ, and He never once wronged me; how then shall I blaspheme my King, Who hath saved me?”

Work and grow this weekend in the things of the Lord.
