Daily devotion – Thursday 29th April 2021

Pastor Keith   -

How rare these days are when you say “Thank you.” that someone replies with “You are welcome.”

As followers of Christ, we have so much to thank God for what He has done for us.

Separated from friends, unjustly accused, brutally treated – if any man had a right to complain, it was the Apostle Paul. But instead of complaints, whilst in prison stocks, for no legal reason, Paul’s lips rang instead with praise and thanksgiving – the very first jailhouse rock!

Paul was a man who had learned the true meaning of thanksgiving, even amid great adversity. Paul wrote the following words during that prison experience – “Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – Ephesians 5:19-20.

Just think of it! “Always giving thanks….for everything!” No matter the circumstances. The prison guards on duty whilst Paul was in prison must have thought Paul crazy. But that did not stop Paul.

Thanksgiving for Paul was not a once-a-year celebration but a daily reality that made him a genuinely joyful person in every situation.

May that be true of each of us!

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!” – Psalm 107:1
