We conducted ourselves in the world…by the grace of God – 2 Corinthians 1:12

Is God’s grace really able to help us in times of trouble? Does grace really work? Can grace sustain us in the midst of the trials and storms we all will and do face?

Yes it really can and I can personally vouch that God’s beautiful, miraculous grace is both powerful and peaceful. But for some, God’s grace seems hard for them to rely on instead and so instead they rely upon themselves. When we do this and neglect God’s grace, we end up with matters only getting worse and our pain growing even more.

People often think that if they grab control of their own lives, that things will turn out for the better as we try to shape our own future.

When troubles come, therefore, we resist trusting and leaning on God’s grace, to see us through. It was Alexander Maclaren, the distinguished British preacher who wrote, “What disturbs us in this world is not trouble, but our opposition to trouble.” What did he mean by this statement you ask?

He was saying we each are to put God to the test when troubles come. God will not let you down. In the midst of painful illness Paul begged God to intervene and take it away. But what was God’s reply to Paul?

God replied, “My grace is sufficient for you.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

God’s grace was sufficient for Paul and it will be for you!
