The Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace….
The word peace indicates not stagnation, but the peace that comes after the battle has been won! What is equal to making peace after battle? Nothing other than love. Two nations are at war. The stronger defeats the other by force and peace is declared. Is it peace?
Two people at odds in the Church. They go to their pastor and say, “We have settled this business.” How they are asked, and their reply “By burying it and never talking about it again!”
That is not peace. The buried hatchet can always be dug up again. Learn to love, and you will have peace. Peace is love’s confidence.
How do we do this when we are hurt, injured, maligned, or wronged?
The answer again is you cannot in your own flesh, we are talking about the fruit of the Holy Spirit in your life. The Bible tells us that when we received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we were born again. That speaks of a new life. The Apostle described beautifully in his letter to the Church in Corinth – 2 Cor 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. NKJV
NLT – This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
The capacity to have peace is because the war is over, Christ has won the victory and now He has given you His Holy Spirit to empower your new life to operate in love – part of that being His peace….
When you acknowledge the change that God has wrought in your life when you were born again – it is then as you learn to love, as God loves, as you release the love God has given to you to others….peace will certainly follow!
This week, seek the Lord to help you release His love in your life to those around you and you will experience a peace that passes all understanding.
