Daily devotion – Thursday 12th August 2021

Pastor Keith   -

Revelation 8:3 Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand.

Helen and I have just arrived home from our mid-week prayer meeting where the Church gathers each Wednesday at the chapel to pray. It is a blessing to be with the saints in prayer and be part of fulfilling God’s desire for His Church.

Hearing the prayers tonight moves one’s heart immeasurably as you hear the very heartbeat of people’s souls as they come before their Heavenly Father. The Bible tells us that the time we have just spent together in prayer, that each prayer rose to the very throne of God in Heaven, like a sweet-smelling incense to Him.

It’s a picture of the beauty, power, passion of the life of the Church when it gathers to pray.

I feel for those who do not seize this heavenly opportunity to pray with the Church collectively. It’s like trying to describe a beautiful sunset to someone who did not see it. You cannot put it into words.

But there is one more thing about Wednesday nights prayer gathering – we spent that time as a Church filling  golden vessels in Heaven with these prayers! That is amazing!

I encourage you not to miss the gathering of the Church when it prays. It is an earthly experience with a heavenly outcome!
