Phl 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
There is a tremendous emphasis today on mental health. We are living in a time where it seems people of all ages are struggling with depression and mental fatigue constantly.
The heart of the problem is still the problem of the heart – we are lost in sin and living in a fallen world.
But Jesus had the most all-encompassing mind this world has ever seen. His convictions were strong, so unswerving that He was not afraid to mingle with any group, secure in the knowledge that He would not be contaminated or swayed.
There seems to be a great connection between mental health and fear – fear makes us unwilling to give voice to our convictions or to listen to those of others – fear of rejection, fear our beliefs will be attacked, fear our faith might be shaken.
But if that is the case, perhaps we need to examine just how deep our convictions really are!
Jesus had no such fear, no need to fence Himself off from others for His own protection. He knew the difference between graciousness and compromise, and we would do well to follow His example!
Jesus alone is “the way, the truth, and the life” – John 14:6
Never lose your confidence in the truth of the Gospel!
But – like Jesus – may you always be “speaking the truth in love” – Ephesians 4:15
Bathe your mind and filter your thoughts in and through the Word of God. May God then have rule and favour in all your thoughts and may His peace flow not only out of your heart but in your mind as well.
