Daily devotion – God hates sin.

Pastor Keith   -

Psalm 32:5 I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden.

The word sin is hardly mentioned today. It has ducked for cover and is now camouflaged by many other names. Even in some churches the word has gone missing! It is hidden but still very much alive and at work.

Therefore, we find ourselves living in a time when sin is winked at, scoffed at as being old fashioned, thought of as outdated and God is treated as one who is indulgent, tolerant of those who break His commandments. Thus, people today find it difficult to believe that God hates anything, much less sin.

The image many Australians have of God is of a rather senile old grandfather who shakes His head in amusement when His grandchildren misbehave.

But the Bible would tell us otherwise, that God has not forgotten about sin, though many may pretend it does not exist. The Bible tells us that God hates sin. Why? Because He loves us, and He knows how sin ravages and brutalises us when we are caught in its clutches.

Sin is like a deadly cancer, inexorably bringing suffering and death in its wake. Left unforgiven, sin also sends men and women into a timeless eternity apart from God – into Hell.

God hates sin, because He hates what it does to us!

If you are living in sin today, if you have not confessed your sins before Christ you are living on borrowed time with a paid up ticket to an eternal destination that is so bad that Jesus preached on Hell more than He did on Heaven. Because He does not want you to end up there. This is why He came and suffered such a cruel death – because of sin. Sin in the world and sin in our lives.

Today, confess your sin before Him, seek His forgiveness and receive His grace and be restored back to fellowship with He who made you.

God has a plan for you to be used by Him, to bring Him glory, and to bring you grace and peace.

He wants you to enjoy His love and His presence forever!
