Daily devotion – How do people see you?
Many times, people read passages or verses in the Bible and glibly pay no attention to them. They feel they are a nice sentiment but not necessary to their living situation at the current moment.
Such as the following – Gal 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Most people would know this verse well but their obedience to it is another thing altogether!
Suppose I gave all my financial resources to a charity. Most people would think that I was a good person – maybe a fine Christian.
But the Apostle Paul said that unless I acted out of love, “I am nothing” – 1 Corinthians 13:2.
George Sweeting put it like this, “Life minus love equals nothing!”
The question we need to ask ourselves is do we have such love? A love that puts others before us. Without Jesus Christ in your heart, without the love of the Holy Spirit in your life, you are unable to produce this love.
For this is the kind of love Jesus had for us when He willingly left the glory of Heaven and sacrificed Himself on the Cross at Calvary for our salvation.
Only God can give us a selfless love for others, as the Holy Spirit changes us from within. This is one reason we must receive Jesus Christ, for apart from His Spirit we can never be freed from a life of selfishness, jealousy, and indifference.
Let us examine our lives today – will others see Jesus Christ’s love in your life today?
