From the Pastor’s Desk – There are some things in this life that are certainties. The usual words that follow that statement are – death and taxes. But there is more – as I grow older in years, with age comes a reality that you just can’t do what you used to be able to do! Sometimes it is quite comical especially when you need to chase after something suddenly and there is this strange cacophony of unusual movements and kickstarting of muscles that have ‘retired’ from sprinting or jumping! But the one certainty that grows more wonderful each day is that we each grow closer to Christ’s return. Looking forward to the return of Jesus was a constant passion and hope in the early Church. I am however confused and troubled by many professed followers of Jesus Christ who today pay no attention or homage to the fact of Christ’s soon return! Christ’s Second Coming is spoken of 1,845 times in the Bible. Seven out of every ten chapters in the New Testament refers to Christ’s return. We are to proclaim not only the Christ of the Second Coming, but the Second Coming of Christ. This morning we hear Jesus speak deliberately and concisely about His coming again in Luke’s Gospel. I pray that with the dawn of each new day, you will know with a certainty that we are indeed 24 hours closer to His return, and that there is a growing excitement within you knowing He is coming – ready or not!
