Daily devotion – The first Christmas eve
In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily – Colossians 2:9
That first Christmas eve in little Bethlehem – God was manifest in the flesh – 1 Tim 3:16. In other words God put on the body of a man, actually a newborn babe. What an amazing event and incredible truth!
Think of it: The God of the universe came down from Heaven that first Christmas night and took human form. As the words of the old Christmas carol declare – “Veiled in flesh the Godhead see; hail th’ incarnate Deity.”
If you want to know what God is really like, then simply take a long look at Jesus Christ – because He was God in human flesh. In Him were displayed not only the perfections that had been exhibited in the creation – such as wisdom, power, and majesty – but also such perfections as justice, mercy, grace and love. “The Word was God…and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” John 1:1,14.
To His disciples Jesus said, “You believe in God, believe also in Me.” – John 14:1
This incredible sequence of faith is inevitable. If we believe in what God made and what God said, we will also believe in the One whom God sent.
This Christmas, soak in every ounce of the amazing beauty and love that is seen in the birth of God’s dear Son in a stable in Bethlehem. It is a story that is worth celebrating!
