Daily devotion – our arsenal
Trying to get by in this fallen world is the very thing that caused Adam and Eve to fall in the first place. Yet people today follow in their steps of failure and frustration as they attempt to live apart from God.
The Apostle John wrote – “This is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith.” – 1 John 5:4
One of the Devil’s sly devices is to divert our minds, our thinking away from seeking God to help us in our times of struggle against evil and foolishly attempt to fight our battle alone! But God knows we need His help.
The Bible warns us, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
Let me ask you – what would you actually do if somehow you came face to face with a lion? You most likely would run for your life and you would probably pick up anything you could find to attempt to fend him off if he attacked.
This is so true of our struggles against evil. When evil and temptation stalk us, our first response should be to flee. And when they still attack, we should use every weapon we have to drive them away.
The great news is this: God has provided the weapons and they are awesome! His Word, His angels, His Spirit, the encouragement and prayers of our brothers and sisters in Christ – His Church. These and more are ‘weapons’ God provides for us to have victory!
Remember, you are not in this battle alone – so why act like it?
Today, seek God’s help and His weapons and you too will be victorious!
