Daily devotion – plans

Pastor Keith   -

As for God, His way is perfect. – Psalm 18:30

All of us can agree that some days things just don’t go to plan. Things did not always go to plan for the Apostle Paul either.

Paul was expecting to preach in what was known as Asia Minor – they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit – Acts 16:6. Looking forward to instructing the new converts in Philippi, Paul and his companion instead found themselves thrown into prison – Acts 16:11

But in all of this, God was still in control! Paul was forbidden to preach in Asia Minor – because God was opening the door to Europe. Paul found himself in jail – and because of his imprisonment a Philippian jailer and his entire family received Christ as their Saviour and Lord.

Things certainly don’t always work out the way we plan them. But if we commit our way to Christ and walk in obedience to Him, we discover His plans are always better!

I had to learn the hard way that my good ideas in what God should do and bless were not what God had planned. God is not interested in my good ideas but He is absolutely thrilled in my faithful obedience to do what He desires us to do. This is where the blessing always will be!

Fruit does not come from my plans – but blessing will always be in God’s plans.

Isa 55:8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD.
Isa 55:9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
