Daily devotion – a life well lived

Pastor Keith   -

A dear friend of ours and Pastor of Maranatha Chapel, Ray Bentley, has died from Covid 19 complications. Ray was one of our guest speakers at the Conference we held here at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour.

Ray’s passion was to serve the Lord and to preach the Word. Anyone who knew Ray knew that besides loving Jesus, his family, and the church, Ray loved Israel most—both the land and the people. Ray believed that because the church had received spiritual blessings, such as the Messiah and the Scriptures, through Israel, it was the church’s obligation to bless Israel materially. This Ray sought to do and did in many creative ways. His love for the Holy Land would lead him there many times throughout the years, and he met and befriended many of the key leaders from both Israeli and Arab communities.

Ray was 64 years of age when he went to be with the Lord. We here at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour will miss him but we also know within our hearts we shall see him soon.

1Th 4:13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
