Daily devotion – giving your day to Him

Pastor Keith   -

The summer holiday period is just about over and school is back shortly. The routines will begin that most families will have to maintain once more, school drop offs and pick-ups, packing lunches, school uniforms, you know the drill?

Sometimes we have a tendency to simply slot in to such an ‘automation’ that we become robotic in our daily routine. How can we meet all that is required of us when it’s back to work, back to school, back to the running around?

How can we ensure that we are overseeing these things and not being swallowed up by the business of everyday life.

I know of no-one else who was ever busier than our Lord was in His 33 years of walking and living in our world. He ministered to thousands, so much so that at times there was not even a chance to eat. Yet He was still in control of all that He did.

The key to ensuring that God is guiding and controlling your day, your time and your life, is by giving the very first part of it to God. Kind of like laying the foundation out of your day and letting God build on it as He sees fit.

Mar 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

Now you might say, but I am so tired by the daily routine that getting up early is just out of the question!

That is the very issue, the crux of it all, by you getting up early, spending time alone with He who made you, giving Him your day, you won’t be overrun by your day and its demands.

I challenge you this week to put it to the test. You will find that instead of being a slave to your routine, God will give you the strength to be over your routine and not under it. Because God is running it! His grace and wisdom will guide you and strengthen you in every situation because you have committed them to Him before they arose.

This is not just an aid for parents, but for also for your children. You will be amazed at how your week will change.
