Daily devotion – Heartache for a little Ukrainian boy
Jas 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
My heart broke yesterday as I saw on my twitter feed from the Ukraine war the short video of a little boy, about 9-10 years of age, walking alone and crying relentlessly on his way to the border. Maybe his parents sent him off as they fought in the frontline, or they made the heart wrenching decision for his safety to send him to safety. We don’t know but we can only imagine how painful all of this is to each of them involved. Especially the little boy.
Our prayers for the situation in Ukraine must continue individually throughout our day, at home with our family and especially as we gather as Christ’s representatives His Church each Wednesday. This is a dire situation. It appears that Ukraine may be given some fighter jets but so far it’s just words and we see no sign of this being a reality at the moment.
Calls from with Russia are being made by Russian generals to escalate to nuclear weaponry as the Ukraine resistance has been remarkable against the odds.
What will God do? I don’t know but I do know what God wants us to do. That is to pray for the safety of all those facing death in Ukraine and for help for the over 1.6 million refugees now fleeing.
As Christians, we pray because we believe and have confidence that God hears and answers our prayers.
Please pray – now.
