Daily devotion – no excuses
Jeremiah 1:4 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying:
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
Before you were born I sanctified you;
I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
6 Then said I, “Ah, Lord GOD!
Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.”
7 But the LORD said to me:
“Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’
For you shall go to all to whom I send you,
And whatever I command you, you shall speak.
8 Do not be afraid of their faces,
For I am with you to deliver you,” says the LORD.
Many times, when we seek to serve the Lord all we see are our shortcomings and not God’s enabling’s! We have this powerful God driven urge within our hearts to minister however like Jeremiah we come up with excuses as to why we could never do what God is asking us to do.
Jeremiah said he was too young, but God told him that was not a problem. That He had set Jeremiah apart to minister for Him even before he was born. This is a wonderful statement that we can look to in confidence as to how we can achieve what God has called us to perform.
This week take heart from what the Lord said to young Jeremiah and step up to the plate in what God is asking you to do for Him. Don’t be afraid and remember that God is with you as He was with young Jeremiah.
