Daily devotion – The Oscars…a reflection of chaos

Pastor Keith   -

The Oscar shambles, terrorist attacks in Israel, Palestinian’s celebrations over the deaths of two murdered by the terrorists, and Ukraine continues to fight alone for its survival.

We live in a tragic, broken confused and sinful world!

What does the future hold? Nuclear threats continue to be discussed by Russia and children being told to not identify with any particular gender.

Never has our world been in such a state as it is in now. Where does the Church sit amongst all of this?

In Jesus words, it sits right in the middle of the darkness, it brings the salt of purity and cleansing into the deepest rancid wounds of evil and hatred.

Jesus said the Church, that’ s everyone who confesses Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour and who lives to serve Him with all their heart soul, mind and strength is to be….Matthew 5: 13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

We each are on a mission, and in keeping with the Great Commission of going into all the world and preaching the Gospel, our other personal mission is to reveal the light of Jesus Christ to show a dark world what is true, what love really is and that there is hope in Christ.

But we also are called to be salt, to stand against the sinful avalanche that is washing over our worlds thinking and values. To express God’s Word on matters that have been seized by the Devil and twisted, calling that which is evil good and that which is good evil.

We cannot stand idle and do or say nothing – you can’t be a light hidden under a bushel and you cannot be salt having lost its savour.

This week live for Christ, shine and live out holiness as the world spirals into greater darkness so too our light should beam even brighter and our salt be ever stronger!

See you Wednesday for prayer – it’s what Christians do to win the battles!
