Daily devotion – fishermen

Pastor Keith   -

Jhn 21:6 And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.

I am the world’s worst fisherman! I enjoy fishing but I do wish I could catch some, or one. But have you ever wondered about how amazing it is that you actually catch any fish at all? You go to a beach, or a rocky outcrop, or travel some distance in a boat and you cast in your line and wait.

The ocean is so vast that we still have not plummeted its entire depths as yet and it covers 71% of the world’s surface. Why should where you drop a line be a place where a fish with all the billions of litres of water bump into your hook?

I love the story of Jesus telling the disciples how and where to fish on more than a couple of occasions. They were professional fishermen. Yet it was only by Jesus guidance and their obedience that the nets were full.

God knows and controls everything. The Apostle Paul put it like this, Act 17:28“for in Him we live and move and have our being…” Col 1:17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

Why then would we not as His children, pray and seek His wisdom and not make any decisions without His direction?

God created everything and He controls everything. This should bring great comfort to us in these troubled Last Days. Let us therefore follow and obey Him in everything.

Joshua was told by the Lord when he took over the baton from Moses that this would bring him great success.

Be successful this and every week and trust in the Lord and serve Him in every way you can.
