Daily devotion – All glory to God

Pastor Keith   -

Daniel 3:16 –
16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. 18 But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”

What was the passion and trust that powered these three young Israeli’s captive in Babylon yet still serving the one true God of Israel?

I think we miss the mark if we place all the kudos on these men alone. Wonderful and brave we all must admit. But when God is truly Lord of one’s life, we need to remember that it is God who gives us the strength and grace in our hour of need!

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

But what these young men had done and what we can learn from is that they had fully surrendered their lives into God’s hands.

This is what the lesson is here is this miraculous work that kept them safe even though cast into a fiery furnace.

We can see this very concept in the words spoken by these young men – the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. 18 But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”

God will rescue us if He so wills….!

But even if He does not choose to, that won’t change our surrendered lives to Him!

To God be the glory in this amazing miracle!
