Daily devotion – Home

Pastor Keith   -

Whenever we take our eyes off of home, that is Heaven, we lose our perspective and begin to sink beneath the waves of the pandemic, price rises, war, and continued unrest. Paul when writing from prison to the Church in Philippi reminded them of their citizenship, their home, where they belong – Heaven.

Phl 3:20
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ….

The moment I get my thinking corrected, my belonging, all things on this earth fade and God puts them in the right place and in my mind, I see them in the right perspective. Our lives as Christians were always mean to be transitory, and just part of a bigger picture. What is important to us in these Last Days is to orient one’s life towards the story of eternity.

Yes, we live in this world, and we will suffer tribulation and pain. But we, by the power of the Holy Spirit, continue to love one another and look to the return of our Lord which is soon to be.

We have been given hope – 1Pe 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1Pe 1:21 who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

This word hope means profound certainty. Peter tells us this hope is a living hope, a vital part of our new spiritual life that comes to each of us as Christians by the Holy Spirit through our new birth.

Our faith in Christ’s resurrection drives our living hope, and it burns within us like a warming fire.

If today you are struggling beneath the weight of this world’s affairs, remember Christ’s resurrection, the power that it displayed over our greatest enemy – death. And now we have been given that power to help us live today in expectancy and victory, because we are not of this world. We are here on a mission and when our mission is complete, we will be called home.

But til then we shall proclaim His glorious gospel, we shall serve Him with all our hearts, and we shall continue to live in victorious hope!
