Daily devotion – hope for the future
John 14: 1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
Paul once wrote, “If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.” – 1 Cor 15:19.
If there is no life after death, no Heaven, promise of a better world – then life is empty, hopeless, without meaning or purpose.
But we know that this life is not all there is! Ahead is Heaven, and some day “we shall always be with the Lord.” – 1 Thess 4:17
Some day we will go home where all is happiness, joy and peace. How empty our lives would be if we did not have this hope?
Knowing Heaven is real will make a difference in the way we live. For one thing, we won’t become attached to the things of this world. We will say with Paul, “I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.” – Philippians 4:11
But Heaven should also give us a burden for those who do not have this hope. Every day you meet people who do not know Christ and this is a tragedy if we allow them to continue to live without hope.
Will you tell them of Heaven and of hope this week?
Will you tell them of our blessed Saviour?
This is our mission this week!
