Daily devotion – our job

Pastor Keith   -

Our first stop on day 1 of our normal Israel tour is the beautiful location of Caesarea. It’s a beautiful beach location with many ancient ruins including a complete chariot racing course and massive amphitheatre.

It was also the residence of a Roman Centurion by the name of Cornelius.

In the Book of Acts chapter 10, Peter was summoned to go to Caesarea from where he was staying in Joppa further down the coast. 3 About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, “Cornelius!”
4 And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, “What is it, lord?”
So he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God. 5 Now send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose surname is Peter.

Why did the Lord send an angel to tell Cornelius to find Peter? Why didn’t the angel himself share the Gospel there and then with Cornelius?

God has chosen you and I, not the job of angels to share the Gospel. We do see once exception only in the Book of Revelation.

The task of sharing the Gospel, God has chosen you and I to be His heralds, His instruments to tell people His good news. If we ever get it through our heads that the Gospel really is good news, we wouldn’t need classes or motivational seminars on witnessing.

To be able to share with someone, that the Lord loves them, that every sin they have ever committed, are committing, or will ever commit is forgiven because of Jesus death on the Cross, it’s not a burden.

It’s a privilege!

Talking about religion is dull, boring and a pain; but sharing the Gospel is pure joy!
How long has it been since you face-to-face said, “I’ve got good news for you!”

You will be surprised by the joy you will get when you share the Gospels with another.
