From the Pastor’s Desk Have you ever wondered why there is anti-Semitism? Why there is such an evil hatred of that which is Jewish? Usually, when we think of evil against the Jewish people, our minds think of Hitler and the holocaust. As horrific as it was, that is only part of the story, which begins far back in history. But for the sake of space and time, let’s examine anti-Semitism. God’s program with Israel began in the Old Testament with Abraham. In Ephesians 2:11-12, Paul tells us how God, starting with Abraham and then through the Jewish people, planned to reveal Himself as the one true God to all the world. With the Jews, God deposited His Word, and through the Jews, He gave the world our Saviour. (Romans 9:1-5) Israel was to be the light to the Gentiles so that they too might be saved. Therein lies the reason for Satan’s relentless evil, violent attack upon the Jewish people. The people of Israel are the channel, the means God chose to take the Gospel, the proclamation of the one true God to the world. Anti-Semitism is not just a racial attack; it is THE spiritual onslaught of evil upon the message of love and grace of the God of Israel. Tragically, this attack will not cease until Christ returns to begin His rule on the throne of David in Jerusalem at His Second Coming. As Christians. Therefore, let us never stop praying for the people of Israel, chosen by God to declare His glory to the world when God chose Abraham!
Helen’s Heart– Let us come before His presence – Psalm 95:2. The purpose of prayer is not to twist God’s arm into our way of thinking. It is the child like elements of simple trust and time in the presence of God. Prayer is a powerful weapon God has given His dear children to conquer everything. No wonder the enemy of our souls snatches this weapon, hindering us from the use of it. Persist in prayer, prevail and as we do we will succeed in the eternal. – love Helen.
