Daily devotion – words are powerful
Pro 15:23 A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!
Pro 25:11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold, In settings of silver.
How often we miss the blessing of giving a word of thanks or of encouragement to another soul. Such words, enveloped in the love of God and spoken with the direction of the Holy Spirit land in a place where they bring such encouragement and joy that we will never know this side of Heaven.
Over 40 plus years, I have carried out services for funerals and weddings, and at times there has not been one word of thanks or appreciation given. It’s not expected but when it is given it truly is …like apples of gold, in settings of silver. You have the capacity to touch another person’s soul when motivated by the love of God to give someone a word of thanks, a word of encouragement, a word of comfort.
We miss so many open doors that God gives us each day, so many Spirit led opportunities to say something to some one that will sit with them for ever.
In addition, we never know if the word you share, the thanks you give, the blessing you speak or the comfort you carefully place, is not the very thing that the person has been asking God for, seeking God about, calling out to God for help.
This week, make a change in your daily routine. Speak words of blessing, words of simple thanks, words of encouragement, words of support and let the Holy Spirit guide them to the place where they are needed the most!
