Daily devotion – a good thing

Pastor Keith   -

Pro 18:22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.
Pro 5:18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

I do not do much of the housework in our house. I have on occasions made the bed, you can count on one hand in a year how often! Washing, that I only did when Helen was in hospital having one of our four children.

The other day, I went through an old photo album or two, looking back to our wedding day and then subsequent years on. Much has happened since then and now 46 years later, I realized once again the truth of both Scriptures that begin this devotion.

Over and over as I go to bed in clean sheets, wake up to clean clothes, breakfast prepared, all other meals throughout. I have much to be thankful for in ….finding my wife and truly knowing ….how blessed and favoured I am and have been from the Lord. I do not take for granted all the years she spent getting the children ready for Church whilst I was focused on what I was to be teaching.

There are times in all our lives that we just don’t realize the blessings that God has constantly given us, that we at times, simply take for granted!

So too our Lord, He is always with us, always providing for us, watching over us and keeping is in the shelter of His wings. Let us never take God’s blessings, or the blessing of God for granted. Take a moment today, to perhaps journey back in time, reflect and remember how much God has done faithfully with us and for us.

In addition, take time to give thanks to those close to you that just keep ministering to you, day after day, and thank the Lord for them and also thank them.

Psa 92:1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:

It’s a good thing to give thanks….let us not forget or neglect to do so this week!
