Daily devotion – small things!

Pastor Keith   -

This coming Wednesday evening we begin a new study in the Old Testament book of Zechariah which offers an amazing prophetic view of the future. He along with the prophet Haggai, was instrumental in inspiring his fellow Jews to rebuild the Lord’s Temple in Jerusalem.

Zechariah outlines God’s program for His people Israel during the “times of the Gentiles” – Luke 21:24, preparing them for their deliverance through the coming Messiah. This amazing book of just 14 chapters will give us great insight into the times we find ourselves living now and beyond.

Zechariah 4:10 – For who has despised the day of small things?

This wonderful prophet of God teaches us and exhorts us to be faithful in the smaller details of life at home, at work, and with friends, family and even strangers.

So often we are looking for ‘great’ ministries or callings when right within our own home, school or workplace, God has a precious mission field for us to serve and be faithful in.

Over the years as a pastor, I have seen too many family breakdowns in those who have gone after the ‘glory and fame of public recognition and acclaim’, to only have their own loved one’s miss the gift of salvation.

Drop your eyes for a moment, see who is right under your nose, who needs the love of Christ, and minister to them. God will sort out the rest!

The Church of Jesus Christ is an amazing creation, but it is made up of a lot of little saints all supplying their gift for the blessing of the whole Body.

Join us this Wednesday, before our time of prayer as we jump into one of my favourite books in the Bible, and let us study together the glorious prophecies that will be unfolding the glorious return of Jesus Christ to His people, Israel!
