Daily devotion – blessings that are yours now!

Pastor Keith   -

Paul opens up to us a vast array of wonderful blessings that we each and every one can enjoy, can rest in, can hold to and seek in the beginning of Ephesians chapter 4.

Look through each one of these and learn them, know them and trust them because if you have received Christ as your Lord and Saviour, they each are yours!

Ephesians 4: 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

One body – Jew and Gentile, slave and free, male and female, rich and poor, young and old – all of these otherwise conflicting types of people have been placed in “one body”, the Church.

One Spirit – refers to the Holy Spirit who baptizes each believer into the body of Christ. The same Spirit of God gives life to and dwells in every believer. The work of the Holy Spirit is to unify Christians in Christ. This is the unity that the believer is instructed to keep. One Holy Spirit gives all of us new life.

One hope of your calling – this refers to the goal set before all believers. They will be taken out of this world into the presence of Christ to see Him face to face. This is the blessed hope – Tit 2:13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, – we look forward to a eternal, sinless, painless, deathless joy in the presence of God.

One Lord – Jesus Christ alone is Lord. His lordship over believers brings into existence the unity of the Church as He is the Head of His Church.

One faith – This is the body of truth called the “Apostles’ doctrine” – Act 2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. When this is denied, there are divisions. There must be substance to form an adhesion of believers. This substance is correct doctrine.

One baptism – here the reference is to the baptism of the Holy Spirit where we are all immersed and place into the body of Christ. Ritual baptism is by water. Water baptism is a symbol of the real baptism of the Holy Spirit by which believers are actually made one.

One God and Father of all – this refers to God’s fatherhood of believers. Since there is only one Father, He is not the Father of unbelievers. Sonship can come only through Christ. The unity of believers produces a sharp distinction between believers and non-believers. He is Father of all who are His by Christ’s redemptive work on Calvary’s Cross.

Want to be blessed this week – read through these amazing few verses and then thank God for each one of them and now immerse yourself in claiming these blessings – enjoy now your life in Christ!
