Daily devotion – the truth
Jhn 8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
As a new Christian Satan would come often against me by trying to make me think that since receiving Christ as my Lord and Saviour, I had not changed, and nothing had happened, and my sins had not been forgiven. His attack on our decision for Christ never ends.
But over the years, by the grace of God, through the power of the work of the Holy Spirit speaking to me through the Word of God, now I always recognise when the enemy is trying to trash talk me. His ways never change, and his lies remain constantly the same.
If you have honestly turned to Jesus Christ and asked Him to forgive you then you are forgiven, that’s the facts! You are forgiven totally and absolutely. When Jesus Christ died on the cross, every sin you ever committed – everyone – was placed on Him. He died to pay the penalty for all your sins.
So, do not believe your emotions, and don’t let the memories of the past defeat you. Finally, don’t pay any attention to the lies of our enemy. For there is no truth that he ever speaks.
The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin – 1 John 1:7
That’s the truth and that is God’s promise to you – and God cannot lie!
The other day I was in the garden section at a well-known hardware store and there was the plant hyssop for sale. It reminded me of this verse – Psa 51:7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
