Daily devotion – a life of praise
Psa 146:2 While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.
God gives us the very breath we breath and the life we live each day. So the Psalmist writes that it is only fitting that we use that life and breath to praise Him.
To receive the gifts that God gives us and then to ignore the Giver is the essence of idolatry. Here the writer of this Psalm tells us of his promise that he would praise God all of his life, and certainly this is wise preparation for you and I as we will be praising God for all eternity!
When you live a life of praise you overcome criticism and complaining that would seek to halt such praise. It would also declare to God and those around us that we are grateful in and for everything – 1Th 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you – and that you believe that God is working all things together for your good!
A life of praise is free from constant anxiety and discouragement as we focus on the Lord and not down upon our problems or ourselves.
