Daily devotion – who is in control?

Pastor Keith   -

Psalm 48:14 “This is our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death.”

Have you ever made a poor or wrong decision? We all have and sometimes we are slow to learn that we need to have Christ steering our lives completely.

An airline pilot was flying a plane his smallest daughter was also a passenger on crossing the Atlantic. During the flight, one of the stewards awakened the little girl and told her to fasten her seat belt because they were about to fly into turbulent weather.

The little girl opened her eyes, saw the lightning flashing around the plane, and asked, “Is my dad at the controls?” The flight attendant replied, “Yes, your dad is in the cockpit.” The little girl smiled, closed her eyes, and went back to sleep.

Our Heavenly Father is at the controls of our lives. Or, rather, He wants to be at the controls. But He gives us freedom to pilot ourselves as we wish. The problem is that we often crack up, much as we could expect to do if we took the controls of an aircraft we had not been taught to fly.

God knows us. He knows our strengths and weaknesses, and He knows what is best for us. If we will only relinquish the control of our lives to Him, He will see us safely home!
