Daily devotion – When God says no!
Mar 5:20 And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled.
When you talk or discuss matters in general. Do you always say yes to everything?
Off course not! Yet somehow when we pray and seek the Lord we always expect Him to answer yes.
In Mark’s gospel chapter 5, there are 3 prayers offered in the first half of the chapter
“Let us go into the pigs,” the demons cried. And Jesus said, “Go!”
“Leave our region,” said the Gadarene folk. And Jesus left.
“I want to follow You Jesus,” said the once possessed man. “No,” Jesus said.
Jesus answered the request of the demons and of an unbelieving ungrateful society. But He answered the prayer of a believer with a no to his request to be allowed to go with Him.
Initially, this man probably was disappointed, but he realized he must keep the directive of His Deliverer Jesus and thus returned to speak to his community. What a story he had for them!
Church history records that a group of believers grew in this very location. Most likely birthed by the man Jesus sent home.
This week, take hope, your prayers not being answered in the way you desire, are not indicative of God not hearing or not caring, for He only said “No” to the one who loved Him!
