Daily devotion – the great gap between death and life

Pastor Keith   -

Ephesians 2:1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

Just how different is the life of a Christian from that of a non-Christian? To put it simply and biblically, the non-Christian is dead in their sin, and the Christian is alive in God’s grace, born again!

As I grow older, the way of the world and the gap between the way it lives, and the way God now enables me to live is powerfully distinct! There is no connection at all, for one is dead and the other is alive.

2Co 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

Eph 5:14 Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”

Somehow the Church has allowed or adopted the capacity that allows one who is dead in their sin to sit in attendance yet there be no change of living, no difference in thinking and a tragic deception to be the outcome.

As you examine your walk with God, ask yourself, has there been a ‘dramatic’ change in how you live, how you think, how you talk, in what your passions now are. If there has been no dramatic change then we must take stock of whether we have a real relationship with Jesus Christ, whether we are born again.

Because the difference between a dead person and a living person you must admit is dramatic!

Being alive in Christ means I love to be in His Word, I pray because I want to talk with Him and He with me, I desire to be in fellowship with His Church because I know that is where He has placed me, and to serve and worship Him is that which dictates everything, every decision, every resource in my life.

1 John 2: 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

Yes there is a massive difference between someone who is a Christian and someone who is not!
